If you’ve never gone looking for your Google Business Profile Insights before, it’s easy to assume they’re buried somewhere complicated. They’re not, once you know where to look, and there’s now a second way to see them too.
Where to Find Your Insights on Desktop
Go to Google Business Profile Manager and sign in with the account linked to your listing. Select your business, then click Performance in the left-hand menu. You’ll land on a dashboard showing views, calls, direction requests, website clicks and messages, with a date range selector at the top so you can look at a week, a month, or up to six months at once.
Where to Find Your Insights on Mobile
Open the Google Maps app and tap Business at the bottom right, then tap Performance. Tap See more to expand the full report and change the date range.
The New Way: Google Business Profile Data Inside GA4
Google recently added the option to see your Business Profile Insights directly inside Google Analytics 4, alongside the rest of your website data.
To set it up, go to Admin in GA4, then Product links, then Google Business Profile links, and click Link. Select the profile you want to connect, confirm, and a dedicated Google Business Profile section will appear in your GA4 Reports menu. You’ll need Editor or Administrator access on the GA4 property, and Owner or Manager access on the Business Profile itself.
Once it’s linked, you’ll see the same core numbers, interactions, website clicks, calls, direction requests, messages and views, but sat next to your website traffic instead of in a separate tool.
A couple of things worth knowing before you rely on this version. It only holds six months of data, even if your GA4 date range goes back further. If you manage more than one profile, the numbers are combined rather than broken down by location. And you can’t use this data in Explorations or custom comparisons, it only lives in that one dedicated section.
Which One Should You Use
If you just want a quick check, Google Business Profile Manager directly is still the fastest route, especially on mobile. If you’re already living in GA4 for your website reporting, the new link is genuinely useful for keeping everything in one place rather than switching between tools.
What to Do Once You’ve Found It
Finding the numbers is the easy part. Understanding what they’re actually telling you, and what they can’t, is a different question, one I’ve covered properly in what your Google Business Profile Insights can and can’t tell you.
If you want a second pair of eyes on your local visibility more broadly, that’s exactly what I cover on my SEO services page.
