About Laurren

I’m Laurren, and I run Sow The Seed Marketing.

I’m an independent marketing consultant and Chartered Strategic Manager with more than 15 years’ experience across a genuinely varied mix of industries.

I’ve deliberately built Sow The Seed as a small consultancy where I work directly with a select number of businesses, because that’s where I do my best work: getting under the skin of a business, understanding what makes it tick and helping the people behind it build something they’re proud of.

Why I Work This Way

Relationships drive me. I do my best, most genuinely satisfying work when I actually believe in what I’m marketing, when I understand a business well enough to care whether it succeeds, not just whether the numbers move.

That’s the whole reason Sow The Seed exists as it does. I deliberately keep my client base small. Not because I couldn’t take on more, but because I don’t want to.

The work I care most about – getting close enough to a business to understand what really matters, becoming genuinely invested in its success and building a relationship that goes beyond a monthly report – only happens when I have the time and headspace to give it the attention it deserves.

“Laurren is a great person to work with. She’s not pushy, knows her craft, and took the time to understand what I needed.”

What I Actually Enjoy

If I’m honest, the client relationships come first. Then the research and analysis – working out what’s really going on in a market, what a business’s customers actually search for, what the data is telling us and where the biggest opportunities really are.

I particularly enjoy the point where all of that starts to make sense: cutting through everything a business could be doing and working out what’s actually worth doing next.

Then come the outcomes themselves; watching an idea turn into something tangible and seeing a strategy prove itself right.

But underneath all three is the same thing: the satisfaction of a job genuinely well done. Seeing a business grow. Seeing a client genuinely excited by what we’re achieving together.

That’s what I’m actually working toward, every time.

Beyond the Day to Day

I’m a co-founder of Tibb Fest, a community festival in Tibberton that’s now in its third year and growing. I’m also an active member of Newport Chamber of Commerce, and I genuinely enjoy the people and businesses I’ve met through both. Some client relationships have turned into real friendships over time. That’s not something I set out to manufacture, it just reflects the kind of relationships I enjoy building.

When I’m not working, I’m usually out exploring the Shropshire countryside with my Labrador, making good use of a National Trust membership, or attempting to keep my ever-busy brain occupied with crochet or a good book. I’m happiest when I can get outside, make something or learn something new – preferably all three!

I also set aside time to work with a charity or not-for-profit on a pro bono basis, usually for three months at a time. It’s something I want to build into the way I run Sow The Seed – using my experience to help an organisation that couldn’t otherwise afford it. It’s not a marketing initiative. I simply get a lot of satisfaction from knowing that something I know how to do can make a difference somewhere it matters.

Where I Started

Sow The Seed has actually been part of my working life since 2014, running alongside a wider marketing career that gave me the opportunity to work across very different businesses, sectors and challenges.

Over the years I’ve worked across strategy, SEO, paid advertising, content and digital marketing, but the bit I’ve always enjoyed most has been understanding the bigger picture: why a business wants to grow, where the real opportunity lies and which parts of marketing are actually going to help it get there.

Eventually, Sow The Seed became the opportunity to build the kind of consultancy I’d want to work with myself – small enough to be personal, experienced enough to look beyond individual channels, and focused on doing work that has a genuine commercial purpose.

I’m also a Chartered Strategic Manager through CMI. That reflects how I naturally approach marketing: looking at the whole business, understanding the commercial objective and deciding where marketing can make the biggest difference, rather than jumping straight into tactics.

Let’s Talk

If any of this sounds like the kind of relationship you’d want with someone helping your business grow, that’s exactly what a Seed Session is for.

Thirty minutes, no cost and no obligation. Just a real conversation about where you are, where you’re trying to get to and where I think your marketing could make the biggest difference.

You don’t need to know which service you need before we talk. That’s part of what we’ll work out.
